Say this about Rob Dougan's music: it is
neither dull nor one-dimensional. On his latest, Dougan embraces
classical, Euro stylings, hip hop, and electronica and turns
it into something sweeping and cinematic (his music was featured
in The Matrix Reloaded. Try juxtaposing a few of his songs like
the grand title track, the Tom Waits-influenced "Drinking
Song," and the danceable "There's Only Me," and
it like hearing several different works that somehow mesh well.
Dougan has a distinctive voice, like a raspy Tom Waits with a
croon. As they say, variety is the spice of life. The taste of
this album then is hot.
