It's all about music.
I wanted to start my music magazine
for a long time but didn't know how, especially a web zine. I
have written about popular music and other arts related articles
for five years professionally. The experience has taught me about
the rigors of music journalism and dealing with publications
which played heavily in starting New Beats.
This magazine is basically what I wanted
to cover: reviewing the best of what's music has to offer in
terms of established artists and new talent in a more timely
fashion. Being solely a writer wasn't challenging enough, especially
when some articles I felt strongly about were not published because
of space reasons, etc.
I intended this zine to cover all the
basics in music. That in itself is a daunting task but I'll definitely
try. I wanted this zine to come across as being a simple home
page and a commercial, professional-looking site.
I hope this magazine will have something
for anyone from the casual and experienced music lover. The intent
of this zine is to educate people about music history and news
as well as to serve as a guide. And though music is the main
focus, other areas of the arts will be covered such as film and
book reviews-the ones that perhaps might get overlooked.
Enjoy looking at New Beats as much
as I enjoyed creating and writing for it. I am still working
out a few kinks so please bear with me. I hope to expand this
even further. You readers will be updated on this.
