Faith Kleppinger
Asleep in the Well
Two Sheds Music
By David Chiu

Ethereal does not describe enough the sound of this up and comer. Asleep in the Well has that sleepy-eyed indie pop feel in the vein of Mazzy Star and the Paisley Underground sound. Kleppinger sings in whisperish, breathy voice and gentle guitar strumming and soft percussion dominates the sound. This approach doesn't mean that the music is lightweight; rather it packs even more of an emotional punch thanks to the somber, reflective "Daytime," and the poignant-sounding"Double Negative." A few songs like "Dare" and "Slide" picks up the tempo but just a bit. Asleep in the Well is the perfect musical slice of haunting American Gothic.
