Sahara Hotnights may be the latest female
            answer to the male-dominated breakthroughs of the Strokes and
            the Hives. These four women from Sweden have the moxie and talent
            reminiscent of pioneering punk acts like MC5 and the Runaways
            with aggression and killer hooks. Some of the standouts on this
            record include "No Big Deal," "On Top of Your
            World," and "With or Without Control," and those
            and most of the tracks on Jennie Bomb are infections.
            Maria Andersson sings with a big voice (a la Joan Jett) with
            an ice cold bluntness (a la Debbie Harry). Sahara is poised to
            be something more than a novelty act.
