Will Rigby
Paradoxaholic
Diesel Only
By David Chiu

It has been a long time between albums-17 to be exact-for drummer/vocalist Will Rigby. The founding member of the legendary dbs' is back with a second solo album that combines down home indie-styled rock with quirky, incisive musings from love to Dylan obsessions. The resulting sound is tight and spare: the rockabilly, Dave Edmunds-styled "Got You Up My Sleeve," the powerpop of "Get Away Get Away," the twangy Beatlesque "The Song Isn't Even About You," and the soulful, if sarcastic, "Leanin' On Bob." Rigby lays down his authoritative beats and sings like both a hillbilly and a punk. Paradoxaholic offers some strong tunes from someone who hopefully won't take another 17 years to make a record.
